I started WriteIdeas in 1999 after being offered a promotion from Editorial Director to a non-writing management position overseeing a staff of five. Because I’m a writer at heart with no desire to manage anything other than ideas and the endless combinations of words available to creatively express them, I politely declined and pounced on the opportunity to start my own freelance writing business. More than 20 years later, I’m still happily providing writing, editing, and creative concepts to large and small businesses, entrepreneurs, agencies and non-profit organizations in a range of industries—including the employer mentioned above.
WriteIdeas is me, my network of talented designers and digital pros, and a couple of furry four-legged assistants. I’m a Chicago native and a graduate of the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign. After graduation, I worked for a major public relations firm, and freelanced for the Chicago Tribune. I moved to San Diego because I was cold, and worked in marketing and communications for several years before setting out on my own.
In addition to writing for marketing, advertising and PR, I have co-written and edited several remarkable non-fiction books, and find it rewarding to help others find the words to tell their stories. I also write under my own byline for magazines, newspapers, and online publications, and published my first book in 2016.
I truly enjoy the variety and challenges of freelance writing. I value the long-term relationships I have established with many clients and appreciate the opportunity to be part of their teams and contribute to their successes. I am grateful to be able to earn a living doing what I love. And when I’m not working, you’ll find me playing in the ocean.
Thanks for visiting.
